St. Aloysius Staff trip to Daman
On the 15th of February, 2023, the teachers of St. Aloysius High school, Bandra, including the primary and pre-primary staff, embarked on a three-day trip to the beautiful coastal town of Daman. The aim of the trip was to rejuvenate and refresh ourselves during a long and hectic academic year. The trip was organised by our manager Rev. Fr. Reuben Tellis.
We arrived at the Lovino Resort, Daman in the afternoon at around 12.15 pm and were welcomed by the staff who guided us to our rooms. After a long journey, the teachers were excited to relax and freshen up in their rooms. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The teachers appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. After lunch, the male staff enjoyed playing a friendly cricket match on the beautiful green lawn of the resort.
In the evening, we visited the historic Nani Daman Fort. The fort is a testament to the rich history of the town, which was ruled by the Portuguese for over four centuries. The teachers were fascinated by the intricate architecture and the stories of the battles that were fought to protect the fort. The panoramic view of the sea from the top of the fort was breathtaking. The teachers also had some leisure time to shop for souvenirs and mementos to take back home.
The second day was spent exploring the lighthouse, Cathedral of Bom Jesus church and Moti Daman fort. After that we visited the Mirasol lake garden and spent the day enjoying the Toy train and boating in the lake. In the evening we visited the picturesque beaches of Daman. The teachers enjoyed walking along the shores and taking in the beauty of the Arabian Sea. Some of us also indulged in a game of beach volleyball. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the salty sea breeze was a refreshing change from the daily routine of the classroom. After dinner we had some games organised by Fr. Reuben Tellis, which we really enjoyed.
The final day of the trip was spent relaxing and soaking in the beauty of Daman. Some teachers managed to swim in the pool. The cool water was a refreshing change from the summer heat and helped them relax and unwind. The teachers were able to swim laps, practice their strokes, or simply enjoy floating in the water.Overall, the three-day trip was a much-needed break. It was an opportunity to bond and interact with each other outside of the school environment. The trip not only provided us without a chance to unwind but also enabled us to appreciate the rich history and culture of the town of Daman.
